
Matilde Benvenuti, known as Blu, Is an artist with a polyhedric mind, whose artistic research combines several forms of expression, from music to painting, up to stories through images.
Drummer, DJ and electronic music Producer, her art investigates the connections among sound, ambient and nature. The aim is to create solid and evocative soundscapes matched with suspended and organic atmosphere. Through her works, Blu encourages us to a contemplative dimension made of hesitations and breakable waits, salvific silences that generate listening and connections.
Born in Florence, Blu raised in a family where art constitutes a shared value, sorrounded by cultural influences that nourish her imagination: her jazzlover father, her grandparents - literature, art history and painting enthusiastics and her uncle, cinema and theatre actor and director. All these influences will become fertile soil to an intimite and reflective approach to music and art.
Over the years, Blu collaborates with several artists and collectives: between 2018 and 2019, she will be the drummer in the national tour of the indie-pop singer "Postino"; in 2020, she got involved by producer and bassist Gianni Maroccolo (ex Litfiba, CCCP, Marlene Kuntz) in the live project of the perpetual album "Alone IV" that leads her to two music lives at Puccini Theatre in Florence and at M.E.I. of Faenza. Furthermore, She collaborates with the integration of percussions and electronic elements according to the writing of "Sociopatia" track, included in "AloneNotAlone IV" album. During the same year, She has been invited to join the masterclass organized by the Biennale College Musica of Venice, which will culminate with an electronic music performance in the Arsenale Pavillon.
In 2021, One of her audiovisual work "4Maggio2020" has been selected for "Artefici del nostro tempo" contest in the Video Arte section, finally displayed at the 29th Pavillon of Forte Marghera (Venezia Mestre).
During the summer of the same year, Blu starts an artistic collaboration with Roberto Doveri, choreographer and dancer, which partnership will give birth to the production of three musical works and three performances (Two of them as live sessions) for the ballet companies: "Nuovo Balletto della Toscana" and "Balletto di Parma" (Teatro Regio, Parma).
From 2021 to 2023, Blu is Resident Dj of BeOne's Club of Arezzo and, in 2023, She has been selected as participant of Dancing Queen Contest in Milan, organized by DjMag Italia. In 2024, She Is Resident Dj for Astrale Festival at Estragon Club of Bologna.
As a Dj, Blu distinguishes herself for the talent of creating captivating and powerful sound flows capable of transforming the dancefloor in a place where the music turns into a proper entity. It overwhelms, awakes and connects people. In her dj sets, tribal elements and ambient textures blend into electronic and organic rhythms, which lie in powerful and sustained dancefloors, enriched with emotionally and collective energy. Her style, half ritualistic, half rave, breaks the limits among genres, creating sharing places where It is possibile finding themselves.
Today Blu Is member of the historical band JoyCut, based in Bologna. She continues to pursue her multidisciplinary sound exploration, blending music, painting, video and a profound love for nature and sea.
